Latest Lake Levels for Lake Eildon....

The lake is still rising even though it is mid summer and it is just a tad over 78% full....  The lake is still rising approximately 3cm per day.  The inflows are running at 3500 megs which means the rivers flowing into Lake Eildon are still a little hard to wade. ie. Jamieson, Goulburn and Big Rivers.

The lake fishing has been very consistent for red fin up to 2lb (some much bigger).  All methods have been working with scrub worms and yabbies the preferred baits.  Bobbing with ice jigs and soft plastics has been very productive once you have located the schools of redfin.  Trout are still lingering about, lead lining and down rigging with tassie devils between 15 - 20 metres has proved the most successful.  I cant believe we have to use down riggers again - it has been 10 plus years since the lake has been this full and the trout have been at this depth. 

The odd Yellow Belly and Murray Cod have also turned up through all parts of the lake.  The orginial river beds in the top end of the lake arms has been the most productive for cod using big deep diving lures.

Also I thought I would just share this photo with you of my son Jack when we went for our first river wading adventure together.  We started with a practice cast at the Marysville Lake and then hit the Stevenson River and started wading up river casting lures as we went...  While this was quite a treacherous trek through all the rements of the fire damage we managed to land quite a few small trout and most of important of all had a good time.....
